We are delighted to welcome Croatia to the Significant Bank Database! With Croatia’s entry, we have added two new banks: Hrvatska poštanska banka and OTP banka. As a subsidiary of a Hungarian bank, OTP banka brings an added dimension of cross-border activity to our banking dataset. Croatia’s official entry into the euro area on January 1, 2023, marks an exciting milestone in European integration—the first new member since Lithuania joined in 2015. We look forward to Bulgaria potentially becoming the next country to adopt the euro.
With these additions, our banking dataset now includes an impressive 143 banks!
